Marmot Snazette Jacket

I took the Marmot Snazette softshell jacket to the Swiss Alps and the Dolomites this past fall and was very impressed with the fit and functional aspects of this good looking jacket. I generally wore this on a high wind day or when it was not very cold and layered it with a mid and lightweight top underneath. I found the jacket perfect for wind and moderate wet weather.

Whether my arms were up in the air with ice axes or down holding ski poles or off to the side grasping my mountaineering axe, all motions were comfortable in the snazette cut and fit, and the jacket never rode up on me. The outer shell is made of Stretch Polartec Windbloc which allows the jacket to move with you rather than having to struggle against it, which I found very useful for climbing.

There is a bottom draw cord as well as one on the neck to quickly sinch in warmth and keep out the weather.

While the Marmot Snazette isn't necessarily designed to be a lightweight alpine jacket, with all the features it has built in it is still very light. There are two front pockets that are slightly slanted for easily sliding your hands in, and for tight times, quickly getting them out. If you have gloves on the tabs make them easy to zip up. They are slanted in such a way that allows you to access them with a pack on.  One inside pocket that zips to hold Powerbars in the cold or more important, less accessed items.

I've biked in this jacket at 5,000 ft and above in Utah's late winter and have no worries of rain with it, even without a hood.

For versatility, comfort, the quality of design and durability of Marmot gear, this is a bomber choice for multiple sports.
