The Ascet

tests the Ascet in the Himalayas.

This sleeping bag has been build for the minimalist. The down to feather ratio of 90 to 10 will give a comfort zone hovering around 0 degrees Celsius and a extreme zone of around -05 while maintaining a weight (including stuff sack) of 0.8kg. Straps will tie the back down to your sleeping mattress and will avoid you from sliding off the pad. I used the bag for 6 months on expeditions in extremes ranging from a -20 degree Bivouac outside at Muztag Ata Peak in western China (I was lucky and had 2 bags to avoid frostbite!) to +20 degrees Bivouac outside on Arun River in Nepal. This bag was tested to way below zero and I still found it comfortable but I was wearing polypropylene underwear during the colder times. Especially the straps which avoid the bag from sliding of the mattress and the small packing size are a favorite. The zipper could use some rework (which I think has already happened). Obviously had is the bag not designed to go below -05 degrees as it is not a mummy and will let you get cold ears out there. In combination with a bivouac sack or inside a tent I am sure the Ascet does perform way below zero.
